Did You Know?
The red poppy became a Memorial Day symbol of remembrance back in 1921. Moina Michael was inspired by the below poem written by John McCrae entitled "In Flanders Field". She responded with a poem of her own to honor those who gave their lives serving our country and fighting for our freedom; a symbol of the blood shed on the battle field that will live on in their memory.
The American Legion Auxiliary and Veteran's of Foreign Affairs now remembers by sharing a "Buddy" poppy in honor of these brave men and women. Wear red poppies proudly this Memorial Day.
